And why doesn't it look like the medics who made all the mistakes in the first place? Yes, the HSE is a mess, and yes, part of the blame for this comes from the top down, but in this case why have there been no calls for the head of the incompetent radiologist?
I'm sick of medical professionals making excuses and hiding behind each other and the HSE when they should be coming out with their hands up. You only have to look at Drogheda hospital where they had to drag Michael Neary kicking and screaming out into the spotlight while his colleagues queued up in front of him to protect him.
When it comes to the health professionals it's always someone else's fault. I have no doubt that these cases have been handled abysmally by the HSE but if the doctor hadn't made all these mistakes in the first place then all this mess wouldn't have happened.
And before you ask, yes I have first-hand experience of medical negligence, and yes, I AM bitter.
If Harney and Drumm's heads roll it does not exonerate the heedless lacklustre fucks responsible for possibly costing these women their lives. Harney and Drumm are the leaders under whom this culture of blame-avoidance and incompetence has continued to flourish and must go. But every culpable head, from the top right down to whatever inadequate fuck thought that waiting to tell an Oireachtas Committee about these 97 women would avoid allegations of a "cover-up", needs to roll.
What's the point of sacking Harney and Drumm? Their replacements will be equally impotent fighting the bureaucratic marshmallow of health administrators.
Thought Jan O'Sullivan put it well: "the government as a whole must take responsibility rather than allowing health to be run according to the ideology of a tiny party".

Why Blog?
"...simply facilitating those who want to be heard is not good enough, where we need to ensure that we are not overly swayed by obsessive bloggers, where we have to make sure that those who do not have the time or the inclination to voice their views and opinions in public, can still get continued democratic representation." M.O.S. Tom Kitt TD "There’s a virulent group of people out there helping this campaign, especially on the internet, the blogs reached an incredible level of abuse in the last ten to fifteen days, and I mean really bad stuff."Senator Eoghan Harris
